We never lose sight of the fact that reading and writing are joyous activities and we make sure that the days of the Festival of fun and relaxing.
The Sassi of Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most stunning cityscapes on the face of the earth. It is an ideal location for writers, whether published or not, to workshop their manuscript with editors and other writers.
Mornings are dedicated to panels on the European market, foreign rights and bookselling channels in Europe.
Afternoons are dedicated to meetings with the reading public - booksignings and talks, fun interactive affairs for all those who love books.
This is a chance for English-language writers to meet their European readers - women who passionately love their books and who constitute a major global market. The afternoon events will be with writers, journalists, TV personalities, singers - all those who have a story to tell, whether they write it, film it or sing it. Matera is the perfect setting for a Fiction Festival.
The Women’s Fiction Festival is organized together with Harlequin Mondadori , Italy’s leading publisher of women’s fiction. Other sponsors are: Matera Municipality, Bank foundations, Carical and Banco di Napoli, Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata, Gaudianello Fonti di Monticchio and Area Living. Other technical sponsors provide their help offering services and products and getting visibility and promotion.
Weaknesses: The regional government has to provide a clear policy about investments in the cultural field, especially for international events that contribute to promote the image of the region abroad. The government policy should adopt a method related to sponsoring and supporting cultural events that has to be transparent, worth and planned on time.
